    Skill Development Learnerships 2026 Intake |12-Month Opportunity

    The Skill Development Learnerships 2026 Intake offers school leavers and unemployed youth an opportunity to gain practical skills and workplace readiness training while receiving a monthly stipend of R5,060. This structured programme focuses on equipping participants with industry-relevant skills and real-world experience to improve employability or support small business development.

    Although the full learnership runs for 12 months, the core training component includes an intensive three-month skills programme designed to prepare learners for internships, entry-level jobs, or entrepreneurship opportunities.

    Programme Overview

    This programme is designed to help young people transition into the workforce by combining hands-on training with career preparation. Participants gain practical skills, workplace exposure, and essential soft skills needed to succeed in professional environments.

    Training is delivered by experienced facilitators who also help identify employment opportunities and connect learners with companies seeking entry-level candidates.

    Training Disciplines

    Hospitality

    Learners are introduced to kitchen operations, cooking, baking, and general hospitality practices. Training prepares participants for roles in hotels, restaurants, catering services, and tourism establishments. Facilitators also assist in connecting learners with hospitality employers.

    Beauty & Wellness

    Participants gain skills required for careers in the beauty industry, including massage techniques, nail care, eyelash application, and basic wellness treatments. These skills prepare learners for entry-level employment in salons and spas or for starting small beauty businesses.

    Sewing, Craft & Design

    This discipline develops sewing and creative production skills. Learners design and create quality products suitable for retail markets. The training encourages entrepreneurship and supports pathways into creative industries and small business ownership.

    Retail Readiness

    Students learn how to operate effectively in retail environments such as supermarkets and stores. Training includes customer service, merchandising basics, stock handling, and workplace conduct required in retail settings.

    Essential Soft Skills Training

    All participants receive training in workplace readiness skills that are critical for career success, including:
